PAAM Medical Letter Vol. 7(2), April 16, 2020

Dear PAAM Colleagues!

In these troubling and trying times, thank you for being members and supporters of PAAM and the greater anthroposophical medical movement! We truly value your support and interest. Thank you!

Given the occurring pandemic with Covid-19 from the coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, it will be important to learn what Rudolf Steiner has to say about epidemics and microbes “causing” diseases. He was certainly around during the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic. Although late 19th century and early 20th century scientists were aware of very small “filterable infectious agents” that weren’t bacteria, the discovery of the nature, constitution and appearance of viruses wasn’t established until later in the 1930's. The knowledge of the character and behavior of viruses have only grown since then. When Steiner talks about “bacilli” and other infectious agents, he seems to be talking about all types of pathogens, including bacteria and viruses. The excessive fear people have in any epidemic, and certainly in this pandemic, predisposes us to “infections” and has to be addressed.

Please note: This Letter is for your thoughtful consideration and personal research and is not to be taken as something dogmatic to believe in nor promote as something official from PAAM or the international anthroposophic medical movement.
